The Society was formed in March 1976 to research and document the history of the parish and its people. Monthly meetings were held and a series of Transactions were published between the years 1977 to 2003 Today, informal monthly meetings are held, usually on the last Thursday of the month at 7pm in The Old Chapel, Alveley. New visitors and members are always welcome to attend and potentially contribute to aspects of local history or family research. Contact us for further information or with any queries. 17/3/20 It has been decided that in view of current government advice our meetings are cancelled until further notice 14/08/19 Unfortunately, the August meeting of the group has had to be cancelled. Next meeting Sept 19th 10/10/17 Change of Date and Venue for October meeting, now 26th October, at 12, Daddlebrook Road 27/7/17 Alveley Weighbridge and Coal Mining Heritage Project - Due to the heavy workload, extensive time consuming nature and urgency of this project, Alveley Historical Society (AHS) decided that it was not a direction that they wanted to pursue and that a separate group should be set up. The new group is called Alveley Mining Heritage group, having separate funding from AHS, part from a project grant from Alveley & Romsley Parish Council, part events revenue, donations and book sales. Alveley Mining Heritage was officially launched on 27th July 2017.
